LCFD recently responded to a residence for a visible smoke in the residence. Upon arrival there was a light smoke condition on the second floor of the residence. The 1st floor of the home was being renovated. Upon investigation with the TIC (Thermal Image Camera), we noticed a hot spot in a wall in a 2nd floor closet. There was no access to the area. Upon opening up the wall we were able to knock down a small fire in the wall. The fire seems to have been caused by work that occurred earlier in the day at the house and followed up tot he second floor in the walls. Thankfully, The fire was contained to that area. The homeowner only happened to check the residents because there was a light on that they went to shut off and noticed the smoke condition. Mutual Aid from Westport and Tiverton came to the scene. Had the homeowner not gone over to check on the light this would have been a significant fire.
