At 4:20 this morning LCFD received a call for a structure fire. Upon responding the orange glow in the sky towards East Main Rd was visible. On arrival the crew reported a confirmed structure Fire. The tanker task force and other mutual aid assistance from surrounding communities was requested. The Fire was a defensive operation due to the condtions. As pictured, the house was fully involved and the second floor had already started to collapse. The strong winds fueled the fire adding a little challenge for the crews. The house was vacant. No firefighter entered the structure. The bulk of the fire was knocked down within a short period. Crews remained on scene for a while putting out hot spots. The State Fire Marshals office responded to investigate. At this time the cause of the fire is unknown. An excavator was requested to the scene to knock down the remainder of the unstable structure. Thank you to Middletown FD, Portsmouth FD, Bristol FD, Warren FD, Westport FD and Tiverton FD for their assistance this morning. Also a big thank you to Providence Canteen for providing coffee and other refreshments for the crews while they fought this fire. There were no injuries at this fire.
