Today at approximately 2 PM, Little Compton 911 received a call for a report of a basement fire. Units responded and arrived on scene to find a moderate smoke condition in the basement. After investigating, a fire was found in the laundry dryer with minor extension to the charlie/ delta corner of the residence. Crews were able to extinguish the visible fire with a pressurized water extinguisher, and then utilized a hose line for overhaul. Crews operated on scene for approximately 1 hour. We would also like to thank the Tiverton Fire Department for their mutual aid assistance.

On a side note, we would like to remind everyone to clean their lint catches in their dryers and to never run the dryer at night or when the house is unoccupied.
