You can't pass up a perfect snow day! LCFD got out on the ice today to train. We went through evolutions of playing victim in the balmy water of Tunipis Pond. Our first victim was none other than the Chief himself! Just give him a cigar and he would have floated there for a while!

The ice there is not safe to walk on please do not head out on the ice there or at any body of water without checking. .

RI DEM utilizes this standard for "Safe Ice":

"Ice must have a uniform thickness of at least six inches before it may be considered safe by DEM. It generally takes at least five to seven consecutive days of temperatures in the low 20s and is determined by several factors such as the size and depth of a pond, presence of springs or currents, and local temperature fluctuations."

Please supervise any children on any frozen ponds.

Enjoy the snow!
