It is with great sadness that we share this post. Mr. Antone Souza of Little Compton, was a World War II Veteran that we had the honor of escorting to TF Green Airport in the early morning hours on Sept 15, 2018. Mr. Souza went to the War Memorials in Washington DC, for the first time, through the Honor Flight Program. The Honor Flight is an event put together by the RI Fire Chiefs Association, supported by various sponsors, that cover the expenses and some extras for Veterans to fly down to Washington DC for the day.

Our interactions with Mr. Souza were always pleasant. He was a very humble individual. He enjoyed sharing his stories just as much as we enjoyed listening. It was a great honor to meet Mr. Souza and have created a friendship with such a kind hearted gentlemen.

On May 7th, Mr. Souza passed away at home. We offer our sincerest condolences to his wife, Ethel, and the Souza family.

God Speed Mr. Souza, thank you for your stories.
