Record Call Volume for 2021

For the first time in the history of the Little Compton Fire Department we have broken 1000 calls, tallying 1057 calls for service. While this is not a feat to brag about, this is significant for a small department like ours. Our community is aging, and the call volume typically will increase year after year.

We recently were able to increase our staffing by adding 1 Firefighter to a Monday - Friday daytime schedule. Adding this 1 firefighter makes running calls easier, allowing us to be more proficient with handling the incident at hand. Only having 2 Firefighter/EMTs on a shift we would rely on the Officers of LCPD and sometimes Tiverton PD to assist us with EMS calls, at times even dragging a firehose down a lane way to help us get water on the fire. We are grateful for the working relationship we have with Women and Men of LCPD. We are excited to have a 3rd firefighter during the week, and will take advantage of our capabilities when we have 3 Firefighters on duty.

This year has been a very trying year for those in the EMS and the medical field in general. Navigating the daily changes with our response to COVID, while trying to keep it out of our homes and away from our families was not easy. It becomes stressful and takes its toll on us and our families. A little over a year ago, we jumped both feet in to help get out community vaccinated and protected against COVID-19. We helped run numerous vaccine clinics in Little Compton and with Tiverton FD in Tiverton. We are a little secluded on our corner of the state but we worked together to make sure our communities were taken care of. We are very thankful for the town residents who volunteered time and time again to help make those Vaccine clinics run better than most others in the state, especially P.O.D. Commander Rusty Cabot! We will continue to make sure our residents and the visitors to our beautiful Little Compton will receive the best service that we can provide.

LCFD is committed to the safety and well being of our community. We are proud to serve you our residents, and look forward to a Happy and Healthy 2022!

Happy New Year!
