On Sunday, December 18, 2022, LCFD responded to the 200 block of Long Highway for a report of a fire inside a residence. Upon arrival found light smoke conditions coming from the front door. The homeowner had evacuated from the residence and told fire crews that her dryer had caught fire. Upon entering the residence crews found the dryer on the ground level in the back corner. Another occupant had successfully extinguished the fire using multiple fire extinguishers and a garden hose. Power was secured to the residence and the dryer was removed from the home. After the home was ventilated, gas readings were taken and all gas levels were normal. Cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
