Structure Fire - Long Highway

On Thursday February 9, 2023, The LCFD responded to a reported chimney fire on the north end of Long Highway. Upon arrival crews found a 2 story residence with smoke in the residence and coming from the eves of the structure. Additional resources were requested and the East Bay Tanker Task Force was activated and responded to the scene, with a Bristol engine respondin for station coverage. The fire is believed to have started in the chimney of a wood stove on the second floor and spread to the attic space where it appeared to be burning for some time. The fire was contained to the attic where crews were able to knock it down and extinguish remaining hot spots during overhaul. The States Fire Mashal's Office responded to investigate, and the cause of the fire remains is under investigation at this time.
