On Saturday, March 17, 2024, the LCFD was dispatched to the 280 block of West Main Rd for the report of a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found single story residence with smoke showing. The fire started exterior at the rear of the residence and extending into the roof and attic space. After making entry, crews found heavy fire in the attic space and initiated aggressive interior attack. This was a labor intensive fire, as the residence had undergone multiple additions and renovations with some vaulted ceilings causing portions of the attic space difficult to access and navigate. Mutual aid companies from Tiverton, Westport, Warren, Portsmouth, Middletown, and Bristol responded as part of the East Bay Tanker Task Force. The fire was held to the area of the roof/attic space, and crews were able to bring the fire under control. RI State Fire Marshal responded to investigate the cause of the fire. Great job everyone and thank you to the mutual aid departments for the assistance.
