Late in the evening on 1/28/17, Little Compton Firefighters were dispatched for a possible blower motor malfunction on a fireplace insert.
Firefighters arrived to find active fire burning under the insert. The fire had extended from the insert to the wall and floor area surrounding the insert. A great deal of overhaul was required to insure the fire was out and had not extended beyond the area of origin. Little Compton Firefighters were assisted by Firefighters from Tiverton. Little Compton Engine 2 and Tanker 1 along with Tiverton Engine 3, Tanker 1, and Car 3 responded. The State Fire Marshal was notified and responded to the scene.
