Yesterday, we responded to a residence on Long Highway for a CO (Carbon Monoxide) Alarm that was going off. Upon arrival to the residence it was noticed that there was no power to the residence and a Propane powered Whole Home generator was running, supplying the house with power. The generator had been running for well over 24 hours. Initial assessment of the residence revealed reading of 60 PPM (Part Per Million). The residents were symptomatic and were transported to the ER for further evaluation. Long term exposure to CO, especially at those levels can be life threatening.

If you have CO alarms in your house make sure they are always functioning, batteries should be changed twice a year, when you change your clocks. They also have a life span of 10 years and should be replaced once you reach that time. Smoke Detectors and CO Alarms save lives!
