This afternoon LCFD Marine 1 responded approximately 6 miles South - SouthEast of Sakonnet Point (just north of Browns Ledge) for a 53ft vessel taking on water, with 2 persons on board. Middletown FD responded as well. Upon arrival to the scene a USCG 45’, USCG Helo and TowBoat US were assisting the vessel. Cause of the vessel taking on water is unknown. USCG also sent a 47’ asset from Menemsha which towed the vessel back in safely, no one was injured.
