On Sunday, 3/6, LCFD responded to a residence on John Dyer Rd for a reported Chimney fire. Mutual Aid from Tiverton and Westport were activated immediately. When crews arrived on scene they found a fire that was contained to the flu and stove. Thankfully minimal to no damage occurred. Causes of chimney fire are undetermined, but evidence of creosote buildup are very common in with chimney fires. Having your flu/chimney swept and cleaned yearly is strongly recommended.
