Yesterday, LCFD Car 1 and Tanker 1 responded to Exeter along with departments from all across the state to assist in fighting a large brush fire. Last reports had put the fire at 700+ acres. One of, if not, the largest in Rhode Island history. PFF J. Tower and PFF W. Rose also responded along with their Fire Academy Recruit Classes for manpower. As of 9pm yesterday evening the fire was estimated to be 80% contained. Fire crews remain on the ground at this time to continued efforts to contain the remaining fire. A great effort by all responding communities. Please check with your local fire departments and obtain a burn permit before burning brush as weather conditions can change day to day.
