Dog Days of Summer

When most think of their local Fire Department, they think of saving peoples lives or putting out a fire. Today was a day of helping dogs. Earlier this morning we were called out to a residence to assist with transferring an injured English Mastiff to a personal vehicle for transport to the vet. This afternoon we received a call for a dog that had swam away from its owner towards Middletown in the Sakonnet River. Marine 1 searched the water and the shore line from the water, while Chief Petrin walked the shoreline. Fenway was found about 1 mile north up the shoreline. Chief Petrin walked Fenway back to his Owner. Without any hesitation Fenway drank some water that we provided to him. LCFD is here to serve the community at large, humans and pets!

Good job, our local Fire Departments go above and beyond the call of duty. I know it makes me feel safe. I now live in Tiverton and feel safe here knowing that L.C., Tiverton and Portsmouth are here for any Emergency that may arise.

You guys are the best. My mother has experienced health problems and the Chief was right there and very calming and professional getting her to where she needed to be. Also offered to help my sisters dog(who is also my dogs sister) in the same type of situation off Lloyd’s (in the Winter!). You are much appreciated!!!
